Secret passages

Been playing for two years or so, love the game. Everything has been making sense and moving along just fine. But, now I have two questions. I keep trading and making money, but now there doesnt seem to be any where to spend it. Even when I gamble I make money,not loose it! So, what am I supposed to do with the money now.??
And so many relics arent being used for anything! Why not?
